Haitian Christian Ministries - Celebrating 30 Years of Ministry

Haitian Christian Ministries (HCM) exists to bring transformation to Northern Haiti through the message of Jesus Christ.  We believe that the hope found in Christ alone has the power to transform lives, families and communities.... even a nation. The ministry is driven by three core values:

                 Preaching and Teaching God's Word

                 Planting Churches

Meeting the Physical Needs of the People

In 1979  Pastor Emmanuel Laguerre (Pastor Manno) arrived at Johnson Bible College with a simple desire to study preaching and then return home to invest in his people. His passion only grew with time. In his final year in the States, Pastor Manno worked with a collection of small local churches to launch Haitian Christian Ministries. True to his word, 5 years after his arrival, Manno was ready to go home. He had his preaching degree in one hand and his family in the other.  Upon his arrival back in Pillatre (pronounced pea-yot) Haiti,  HCM consisted of a small piece of property with no buildings,  a school with 25 students and a church with 20 members meeting under a mango tree. But God had an incredible plan for this young ministry. Over time, the ministry would grow, partnerships would be formed and lives would be changed. God has used HCM to transform the community of Pillatre. God answered the faithful prayers of Pastor Manno.

On January 11, 2015,  HCM celebrated 30 years of ministry. It's been said that we oftentimes over-estimate what can be done in the short term, but drastically under-estimate what can be done in the long-term. HCM is a testimony of that truth.

In February of 2015 after a brief illness, Pastor Emmanuel Laguerre was called Home to his Eternal Resting Place.  The work that was started by the Manno continues to thrive and both the Pillatre Christian Church and The Christian Church at Lory continue to add new souls to The Lamb's Book of Life.

In the Spring of 2015, Associate Pastor Bobanoit Lucceus, who faithfully served alongside Pastor Manno for three years, was called as the new Senior Pastor of the Pillatre Christian Church.

Over time, the ministry has expanded in the following ways:

  • The Pillatre Christian Church has grown from 20 members to over 600 members with active Local Outreach, Evangelism and Discipleship ministries. The church continues to grow.

  • A 2nd church plant was launched in Lory in 2002 and is led by Pastor Jacques Zephirin.  Pastor Jacques was called to his current position in 2004 and the church has a tremendous capacity for expansion.  Currently the church has grown to more than 350 members and children.

  • The Pillatre School has grown from 20 students to over 1,400 students. Today, it is a nationally recognized and accredited school that begins with pre-k students and ends with a college prep course designed to prepare students for the future.

  • A comprehensive regional medical center was launched in 2001 that provides critical health services to the entire Pillatre community and surrounding areas.

  • Thousands of individuals have come to Christ, families have been restored, physical needs have been met and generations of children have received a Christ centered education.

  • January 2017 is the launch of a new church plant at Haut-Dehaine. The church is thriving in just under one year. Not only is there property and a well, but the numbers of new Christ followers continues to swell.

  • October 2017 - Discipleship begins at Parious.

  • September 2018 - A new school is started at Lory. With 25 students in one room, this exciting new expansion at Lory meets a need in the community.

  • October 2018 - Difou is added as our fourth church. Started by students from Emmaus Biblical Seminary, this church continues our vision of reaching those that who have previously been unreached.

  • November 2019 - Breda II and Longes are added as official HCM sponsored churches. We now have 8 churches in Northern Haiti that we are sponsoring and partnering with.

Lory Church

The Lory church was founded in 2002 and is led by Pastor Jacques Zephirin. This church community is nestled within a small village located just on the outskirts of Cap-Haitian, Haiti.

Haut-Dehaine

Haut-Dehaine is the third church plant established in January 2017. This chuch was planted as a joint effort between the Pillatre and Lory Churches. Haut-Dehaine is a small and poor village of 2000 inhabitants at Camp-Louis (the first section of “Acul du Nord”).
